Form VII – Writing

Form VII students have been working with a Thematic Unit called «Home Sweet Home». After watching a few scenes from the movie «The Holiday,» they were asked to do a follow-up activity. They had to write an informal letter to a friend from the point of view of one of the two main female characters, Iris or Amanda, and include some specific information.

Dear Isabelle,                                                                                                                                            I´m writing from LA ,can you believe it? I did home exchange with agirl called Amanda. And guess what? She owns a gigantic mansion! And what’s more she is used to luxury, so my home is not going to be so comfortable.

When I arrived.I thought these were going to be the best two weeks ever! I’m very happy and lucky for the fist time in a long time.This house is enormous, it has a neat hall with cute sofas, and there’s this DVD room, with hi-fi DVD players and lots of DVDs like films, cartoons and more. I spent all day watching DVDs! The bed is so much more comfortable than mine! I love the swimming pool and I am more relaxed than ever.

Dear Carol,

I’m sorry I haven’t written to you before. I didn’t have much time. But now that I’m writing to you I wanted to tell you something.

I have been living in a beautiful cottage these days, because I did home exchange with a woman. I wanted to relax, to take a break. It is very small but nice; it has a kitchen, a bedroom, a very small bathroom and a living room. The home is made of bricks; on the outside it has a front gate and some plants.

The only thing I hated when I arrived here was that the taxi left me far away from the cottage and I had to walk all the way to the house with my suitcases. I almost fell because of the melted snow. The good thing is that it is very neat and tidy. And thank God it has a fireplace.

Well, sorry but I have to take a nap.
