Form VII B – Videos, Songs, Poems and Comic Strips about «Frindle»

After reading a few chapters from the book «Frindle», Form VII students wrote some wonderful pieces of work including emails, songs, poems and a comic strip.
We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed working on them. Congrats to all the students on your creativity!
Watch the videos and read the emails!

Dear Tom,

How are things there? Well, I’m writing to tell you about my intention to sidetrack Mrs. Granger and my 1st day at school.

I was very nervous about the first day because they told me that Mrs. Granger was the meanest teacher and very strict, and I don’t like that kind of teacher. When I was in her class, something happened.

When she was about to give the homework, I tried to ask my delaying question, as I always do. But she knew what I was trying to do, so my plan failed. And that’s why I have more homework. I felt very bad, I didn’t know what to do. That was one of the worst things that happened to me at school.

Well, time to leave. I have to read a dictionary for Mrs. Granger’s class.

Write to me soon,   Nick

Dear Tom,

Do you remember Mrs. Granger? Well, you won’t believe what happened to me in her class.

After a long, boring class, Mrs. Granger was going to give homework, which I hate. So, I tried to sidetrack her by asking a delaying question, but she gave it to me for homework. I felt quite ashamed when she did that.

Well, I need to do a report. Please, if you have a piece of advice, tell me.

                                               All the best,   Nick

Dear Katie,

Well, today I had my first day at school and one of my students was “Nicholas Allen”, the famous teacher stopper.

I had been waiting all day long for the last period. I knew that Nick was going to ask me the delaying question and he did. As you know, I love dictionaries and he knew it, so he asked me where the words in the dictionaries came from, and as I am very clever I gave Nick the question for homework. I felt very smart because I left him speechless.

Please, answer as soon as you can. Ah! Did you have Nick in second form? I really need to know how to defeat him and his questions. I must go to sleep because tomorrow I need to be at school in time.

                                   With Love,  Martha Granger

Dear Kate,

How’s Denver treating you? I miss you!! I am writing to tell you about a boy who made me angry some days ago.

School has already started here in Michigan, I’m teaching 5th grade again, and this boy, who looked annoyed during my class, tried to avoid my homework giving by making a question. Isn’t that dumb?

It was almost homework time when I saw him glancing at the wall clock. He then raised his hand and asked, ”Who invented the dictionary?”. I knew that he wasn’t asking because he wanted to know the answer, he wanted to waste time so the bell rang before I could give out the homework. I felt so angry! He thinks I’m stupid? But I’m not. In fact, I’m clever, THE cleverest! I managed to turn his question into more homework for him. Now, he also needs to search who invented the dictionary!

Well, my lovely sister, better answer soon or I’ll tell mum about that thing. You know which thing…

See you soon on Thanksgiving Day.         Irene xx
