VDS turns 109 years old!!
Founder’s Day 2017
This year the celebration was in the hands of 4th formers, whose fairy tales cast a spell on the audience as they delighted us with a lovely play and sweet songs from faraway lands.
…. Like in fairy tales, at school, you sometimes become the hero and heroines of your stories, the kings and queens that battle against difficulties and powerful teachers that do not breathe fire, but words of love and wisdom. And like fairy tales or fine tales written for children, your memories of school life will live in you forever and will provide the warmth and comfort that are so necessary to face the hardships of adulthood, to fight the many battles life may have in store for us.
And that is why today, we have chosen to honour VDS in its 109th anniversary through fairy tales, because memories of your school days, of old school friends are like those dear old stories told by grannies, old smelling books and teachers, those stories that inhabit your minds and lives forever. Because Villa Devoto school still lives in the hearts of so many here and will live in yours for many more… we are all here to say “happy birthday to you today!”
